Woodland Portrait Photography Session
Laid back family portraits on a sunny early morning in Chichester.
A portrait session isn’t just something you do because you feel you have to, it is something to be enjoyed, an experience to have together. When Huw got in touch, his wife Kim had a birthday coming up and a family morning out together turned out to be the perfect gift. They both spend a lot of time indoors for work so a morning in the woods and some sunshine was a big draw for them. They decided an outdoor photography session near their home around Chichester would be perfect for them. After asking about what kind of images they prefered, I discovered they wanted something very natural and as uncontrived as possible so that their three-year-old daughter Hattie’s personality could shine through.
Giving children the time to express themselves is so important, I don’t rush a portrait session, we go at their pace. Hattie had a wonderful time in the woods, the photography session happily coincided with bluebell season so after capturing a few cuddles with Mum and Dad we let her explore, chatting all the time about fairies and special fairy houses to encourage her into spots with the best light.
We captured some really special moments for them, smiles and thoughtful looks but most importantly we captured the connection they have that makes them unique as a family. Hattie won’t be this small forever and luckily for Huw and Kim, they have a beautiful set of portrait images to cherish this stage in her life.
