I hope you and your family are well and how is lockdown treating you? We find ourselves in unfamiliar times but I’ve been finding the change of pace really refreshing and enjoying having my family all home together. We’ve been isolating since a week before lockdown as Chloe, my youngest and I had coughs at the time. When we were well again I needed to keep being very careful due to being an asthma sufferer. I couldn’t get out and help with any volunteer work and felt frustrated not being able to help in some way.
I noticed a few photographers doing doorstep photoshoots and it seemed a great way to create some cheer in the community. I decided to combine it with an effort to raise money for “NHS charities together”. I asked my village if they’d like to take part in a 5 minute photoshoot (all photos were taken with a long lens to protect both the families and myself).
I enjoyed this project so much, it got me out to meet some wonderful families who all had very different experiences of this odd time. I encouraged them to include the things they’d been doing at home. This experience has brought out different things in all of us giving some of us much more time to spare and some of us much less! Some had celebrated birthdays, one family celebrated VE day in style, much veg was grown and baking enjoyed!
