I was recently asked to do a funky portrait session for a long-standing client called Nadya. She is always a joy to work with, so I was keen to accept!
Nadya wanted to embrace the outdoors for this new shoot, so we decided to head to the Bishop’s Palace Gardens. Nestled in the heart of Chichester, these beautiful gardens are popular with all who live here. They offer the perfect backdrop for a photography shoot, thanks to the wide variety of colours and textures.
Nadya used to live and study in Chichester, so it’s a place that holds many happy memories for her. She wanted to highlight some of the landmarks that for her, best capture the essence of the city. These included the cobbled lane leading up to the Cathedral, and the classic old flint walls that are so characteristic of Chichester.
Inside the Bishop’s Palace Gardens, there are striking burnt orange walls and archways. During our shoot, these complemented Nadya’s blue denim outfit wonderfully. A few feet away, we found a peaceful shaded area with steps and ferns. These provided a softer, more classical feel, sympathetic to Nadya’s elegance and poise.
It was important to Nadya to capture all areas of her personality during this session. We definitely achieved this! Alongside the soft elegance of some images, we created some fun, quirky shots that complete the series perfectly.
I’m happy to report that we achieved everything we set out to!
